Employees whose current rate of pay exceeds the published Staff Compensation Levels will remain at their current rate of pay until they have achieved the published level of job expectation, which will allow for an increase in base pay. 

 Trainee Status – for a period not to exceed three months, individuals hired with non-related work experience may serve at a trainee level of $.50 less than the published rate for Level I of any position.

 Staff Compensation Level Advancement – Employees shall become eligible to move to the next higher Level of skill competency and pay when they have successfully achieved all seven Components necessary for advancement to that Level

1.     Technical Development Component – Employee has passed a test administered by the AOA, ABO, Practice or special training.

2.     Performance Component – Employee has completed training and demonstrated competency in performing all responsibilities associated with that higher Level.  Job descriptions are clearly outlined in the office policy manual.  Specific duties related to employee’s job description is priority and will be evaluated routinely in the professional component.

3.     Cross Training Component – Employee has completed training and demonstrated competency in performing at specified Level for other Positions.

4.     Professional Development Component – Employee has completed all assigned reading, courses or special training required for advancement to that higher Level.

5.     Professional Component – Employee has achieved minimum specified grade on evaluations administered by Department Lead and Director during performance review routinely.

6.     Teamwork Component – Employee has achieved minimum specified grade on evaluations administered by Department Lead and Director.  Each team member is required to provide an anonymous evaluation upon request.

Employee will be responsible for demonstrating, sustaining and performing routine use of the acquired skills and work ethics to maintain Level status.   

Staff Compensation Level Downgrade – Employees must be aware that the risk of downgrade can occur if current Level Components are not maintained.  If this occurs, employee will be eligible for review in 90 days from date of downgrade.

Department Lead – Leadership is essential for team development, advancement, motivation, coordination and ultimate success.  Learning to lead is a process that requires commitment as well as personal time for leadership development.  Personal time will also be required for preparation and analysis of required reporting. 

In addition to Base Compensation Levels, all Leads who successfully maintain their current level responsibilities and Lead the department in a positive and successful manner will receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
